Coaching

The East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club strives to offer quality coaches throughout the club, regardless of a team’s age or level of play. Potential coaches will go through an application process (including a background check through law enforcement) and an interview process to ensure the club is hiring the right kind of coaches and, more importantly, the right kind of people. Coaches will be trained and evaluated on a regular basis to ensure that our coaches are improving as well as our players. Since the East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club has boys and girls teams, the club also regularly has male and female coaches on staff. The club believes that coaches serve as role models for their players and have a major impact on the young people they are coaching.

The East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club focuses on having teams coached by the coaching staff, as opposed to only a single coach. This allows for players and teams to experience and learn from a variety of coaching styles. Different coaches have varying strengths and weaknesses, so having a staff available to all teams will also allow for different issues within a player or team to be spotted, corrected and improved.

All teams have a coach assigned to them to coach them at all games. This allows for the teams to form a sense of familiarity with their “main” coach. The assigned coach is present at all practices for their team with other coaches and/or the director there to help.

The players’ familiarity with other coaches in the club also allows for a natural transition if a coach does not return the following season.
