U13 girls finish second in Bladium league

The U13 Eclipse girls team played tough all season long in their Bladium indoor soccer league this winter. The team’s regular season record earned them a spot in the playoffs. A 4-1 win in the semifinals sent them on to the final where they met a tough U14 team, losing just 2-1. The girls team effort could be shown best by the fact that eight different girls scored a goal this season.

Way to go girls! Eclipse is proud of you!

Thank you from the director

Supporters of Eclipse,

Thank you again to all of the players, parents, coaches and board members who helped create what East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club has become. Not only did we manage to exceed expectations of a first year soccer club, but we also managed to exceed expectations of a youth sports organization, in general.

Thank you to those who were able to attend the year-end party at the Rheem Theater on Sunday. It never crossed my mind when starting the club that at the end of year one the club’s players and families would completely fill the Rheem Theater. After all, less than a year ago, East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club was still just pieces of paper sitting on the couch in my living room. The year-end party at the Rheem Theater was a truly special day, as players ranging in age from 4 to 18 stood on the stage next to each other in the same jerseys feeling the same sense of pride in a club they not only play for but had a hand (feet and head) in creating.

I have received praise from directors, coaches, opposing players and parents at every event (tournaments, outdoor/indoor games) we have attended throughout the season for the level of sportsmanship, grace and good will our entire club has shown. Thank you to the parents and coaches for following the goal of the club of using soccer as a means for teaching lessons beyond the field and ensuring our players were held to the same standards.

I can ensure you that I will be working tirelessly to maintain and exceed the level of success we have experienced in our first year, as we head into year two.

Thank you again to everyone who has been a part of the first year of East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club. I look forward to seeing everyone at tryouts in a few months and hopefully during the offseason as well.

Thank you,
Shane Carney, Director
East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club

Emmet scores four for U11

The U11 boys faced a tough challenge on Sunday, as they were matched up against a U12 team from Concord. Half of the U11 boys lineup on Sunday was actually U10 players playing up.

Emmet Morgridge didn’t let the tough competition stop him though, as his shots hit the back of the net four times! A quick attack mixed with some great passes by teammates helped set him up to score, while he also had some outstanding individual efforts that helped propel the team.

U10 Lunar girls CHAMPIONS in Stockton!

The U10 Lunar girls assured that Eclipse would have champions at tournaments in back-to-back weekends with a 1-0 victory over the host Stockton Storm in the final. The girls played Stockton earlier in the tournament, earning their only loss all weekend, but Coach Taylor (with help from Coach Benji) helped get the girls ready for the rematch in the final. Great team defense and a clutch penalty kick by Kelly Gagnon brought the title home for Eclipse!

U12 girls continue success with win over Lamorinda

The U12 Eclipse girls team has overcome size and age disadvantages (more than half of the team is actually U11) to experience success in their first year as a team and their first year in club soccer for many of the players.

The team earned 4th place at the Tiburon Fall Kickoff, and girls from the team earned first place at the San Jose Earthquakes 4v4 tournament.

The girls played tough all weekend at the Stockton Triad, earning a win in their final game of the tournament over Lamorinda, 2-0. It was a fun game for the girls, as they were able to play some of their friends from school. Way to go U12 girls!
